Saoirse offers self catering accommodation for up to 4 people in the old part of Gardenstown in Aberdeenshire, a Scottish fishing village overlooking Gamrie Bay. Saoirse has been comfortably modernised, whilst retaining the many traditional features such as low beamed ceilings and thick walls. The private garden has fabulous sea views with a choice of terraced seating areas.

The accommodation comprises:-

Kitchen/dining

There is an indoor and outdoor dining table with 4 chairs each. The kitchen is well stocked with crockery, cutlery, glasses, electric oven, gas hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, tea pot, coffee plunger, toastie maker, smoothie maker, slow cooker, fridge, freezer, washing machine, iron and ironing board, weighing scales, soup wand/blender, clothes airer and outdoor drying, cloak room, wine rack, hoover and mop bucket.

Sitting Room

There is a large 3 seater settee, a reclining chair, comfy bean bag and an additional chair with cushions. There is free WiFi, bluetooth speakers, and a smart TV. There are candles in appropriate holders, and soft lighting with lamps and a salt crystal lamp. There is a multi-fuel stove with one bucket of coal and a basket of logs. More can be bought from the Wee Shoppie.

Conservatory

The conservatory opens onto the garden. There is a large day bed to sit and peek through the hole in the wall to the sea. There are fairy lights to make a cosy atmosphere at night.

Bedroom landing

This can be reached via the staircase between the sitting room and kitchen/dining room, or directly through double doors from terraced back garden. Upstairs has low ceilings, in line with this being a small rustic fisherman's cottage. There is a mirror, and a hairdryer. The shower fan switch is located in this hallway.

Bedroom 1

This bedroom is reached via a quirky folding half door, and has a standard double bed with two bedside tables and lamps. The view from the bedroom window is breathtaking, across the rooftops of the old town, the sea and beach. There is a radiator. There is a curtained wardrobe, and a double chest of drawers. The bedroom has a curtained en-suite with toilet, shower, and sink. Duvet, pillows, bedding, indoor towels, and a shower mat are provided. Beach towels will need to be brought by you.

Bedroom 2

This bedroom has a small double bed to make room for the adjacent roll top bath. The view out of the window towards the bay is beautiful. There are two bedside tables and lamps. There is a radiator, curtained wardrobe, and a wooden chest of drawers. In the corner of the room there appears to be a small wooden wardrobe, which opens to reveal another en-suite, with a toilet, sink and further storage.

Garden

Take your pick from the various seating areas available. One is sheltered snugly behind the secret garden wall next to the conservatory. Or there is another blue bench on the raised decking, overlooking the wall providing a view of the beach and sea. Or maybe you'd prefer the highest terrace with the rainbow boat chairs providing an uninterrupted view over the top of the house across the sea and bay. Don't forget the middle terrace with outdoor table and 4 chairs which provides access directly into the back of the house by the upstairs landing between the bedrooms. We also have a vegetable garden and you are welcome to the produce listed when you arrive. Not everything will be in season, so please check the information on arrival.

Porch

We find the porch to be a delightful place to sit in shelter and overlook the old town and sea beyond.

Outdoor storage

In the porch way we have a small coat hook for wet coats. We request you leave them to dry here initially, rather than place them in the house. There is also a curtained cloakroom in the kitchen.

Parking

We have one parking space directly opposite the house marked 'residents parking'. Our lovely neighbour has the space behind and it is important you don't park further back than the blue plastic container on the wall. All other cars with your party, and any visiting guests need to park elsewhere on the main road in the village or in the main car park on the seafront. On street parking is free, some car parks have charges.

Dog friendly

One well behaved dog is allowed by prior arrangement. Please contact the owners for more details.

Waste disposal

We have one green bin for household waste which is emptied on Thursdays. In the kitchen we have a bin for household waste, and another two bins that are labelled with the corresponding recycling requirements in Gardenstown. We ask that you dispose of your waste by carrying them down the steps almost opposite the property that lead to Main Street where the pub and wee Shoppie are located. At the bottom of these steps there are some bins you can place the waste and recycling in. If no space there are more on the main car park, and more at the start of Seatown.
